Catonsville Women’s Soccer Battles to 2-2 Tie with Potomac State

Catonsville, MD - The CCBC Catonsville Cardinals women's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw against WVU Potomac State on Tuesday afternoon in Catonsville. The Cardinals scored early and held strong in a competitive contest that saw both sides exchange goals throughout the match.

Catonsville got off to a fast start in the 5th minute when Gianna Barraccato scored unassisted to give the Cardinals the lead. WVU Potomac State answered quickly as Lynnee Clark equalized in the 31st minute to tie the game 1-1. The Cardinals regained momentum just before halftime when Barraccato found the net again in the 44th minute, sending Catonsville into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

In the second half, Potomac State pushed for another equalizer and finally broke through late in the match. Eva Ochoa scored in the 87th minute to level the score at 2-2, leaving Catonsville just minutes shy of securing a home victory. Despite the late goal, the Cardinals displayed resilience against a Potomac State side that fired nine total shots on goal.

Barraccato led the Cardinals offensively with two goals on six shots, while goalkeeper Kayla Cox recorded two saves in the draw. With the result, Catonsville moves to 1-3-2 overall (2-2-1 conference), while Potomac State stands at 0-1-3 overall (1-3-1 conference).
