Catonsville, Md. – November 9, 2025 – The CCBC Catonsville women's basketball team fell 69-65 to Monroe College-Bronx on Sunday afternoon at the Jack Manley Wellness and Athletic Center. Despite a strong start and several standout individual performances, the Cardinals were unable to overcome Monroe's inside scoring and second-chance opportunities as the game progressed.
CCBC Catonsville was led by Kesiahna Murphy, who recorded a standout performance with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals, earning her first double-double of the season. Anaiya Morrison contributed 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists while Tashay Bell had 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, providing consistent scoring in the paint. The Cardinals played aggressive defense early and moved the ball effectively, keeping the game within reach at the half.
Monroe College-Bronx (5-0) used a balanced and efficient offensive effort, led by Beverly Williams with 26 points and 4 rebounds and Salimah Williams, who added 14 points and 5 rebounds. The Mustangs controlled the boards and found scoring opportunities inside, out-rebounding the Cardinals 47-32 and converting second-chance plays to maintain their advantage. Monroe's depth also proved impactful, with multiple players contributing productive minutes off the bench.
The Cardinals continued to battle through the final quarter, showing improved defensive positioning and ball movement. However, late turnovers and Monroe's interior presence made it difficult to close the gap. CCBC Catonsville finished shooting 32.8% from the field, while Monroe shot 40% overall and 40% from beyond the arc.
With the loss, CCBC Catonsville moves to 1-3 on the season and will look to regroup as they prepare for their next contest. The Cardinals continue to show growth and competitiveness, with progress on both ends of the floor that they aim to carry forward into upcoming conference play.
