Cardinals' softball coming into 2026 were looking to build on their Region 20 championship appearance and would have to do so with plenty of new faces. The Cardinals would build a strong offensive lineup with ten players recording at least 20 hits on the season, creating opportunities from any part of the lineup which made their offense versatile and dangerous all season. Offensively they'd be led by Alana Watts who would boast the nation's best batting average (.604) and on base percentage (.729) for the second straight season, while recording zero strikeouts the entire season. Behind her would be a group of freshmen who made a big impact in the lineup as well as playing key positions in the field. Freshman catcher Angela Delaney would lead the Cardinals in runs scored at the top of the lineup, while leading the Cardinals pitching staff behind the plate for much of the season. Maggie Rowland and Gianna Guglielminetti would hold down the left side of the infield in their first years at third base and shortstop respectively. Aliceanna Weibley would lead the Cardinals in extra base hits and RBI while patrolling centerfield in her first year showing immediate impact. Returners such as Ava Blum and Jordyn Cleveland would also play great in their increased roles from a season ago. On the pitching side, the Cardinals were led by 2nd year workhorse Emily Fagan who would throw nearly 400 innings in her two seasons at CCBC Catonsville, amassing 38 wins, and 35 complete games. Her willingness to take the ball no matter what was a massive part to why the Cardinals were so successful over the past two seasons. Coach Galbreath would lead CCBC Catonsville to the Region 20 final four for the third straight season, getting there with a first round victory over the higher seeded Howard Community College. The Cardinals would fall in their quest for the 2026 Region 20 title, but would turn in another great season, finishing 11-4-1 in conference with a young roster that will continue to grow, as Cardinals softball has proven to be a model of consistency under the leadership of coach Galbreath.
