Cardinals Come Up Short in Doubleheader vs. Bryant & Stratton

Catonsville, MD - April 4, 2026 – Cardinals Come Up Short in Doubleheader vs. Bryant & Stratton

The Lady Cardinals battled the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats in a competitive doubleheader, dropping game one after a late surge by the Bobcats before falling short in a high-scoring comeback attempt in game two. Despite the results, Catonsville showed resilience throughout the day with key offensive moments and late-inning pressure.

In game one, Catonsville kept things tight early, responding to an opening run by Bryant & Stratton with an RBI double from Renee Askin that scored Maggie Rowland. The Cardinals took a 2–1 lead in the fourth inning as Rowland crossed the plate again, but momentum shifted in the sixth when Bryant & Stratton put together a big inning fueled by multiple extra-base hits. Catonsville was unable to recover as the Bobcats added insurance runs late to pull away.

Game two saw Bryant & Stratton jump out to an early lead with a powerful first inning. The Cardinals answered in the third inning with RBIs from Rowland and Gianna Guglielminetti and continued to chip away with a two-run homer from Ava Blum in the fifth. Trailing late, Catonsville mounted an impressive rally in the seventh inning, highlighted by run-scoring hits from Rowland, Blum, Ellora Edquist, and Alana Watts. The comeback effort fell just short as Bryant & Stratton held on to secure the win.

The Cardinals will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Chesapeake College on April 8th at 3/5pm.
