Cardinals Sweep Region 20 Opener

Catonsville MD, March 14th2026- CCBC Catonsville Softball opened Region 20 play with a doubleheader sweep (9-0, 6-1) over Anne Arundel Community College.

The Cardinals would dominate the day, led by starting pitchers Emily Fagan in game 1 and Jules LeProhon in game 2. The scoring in game 1 was kicked off by Alana Watts with an RBI single in her first game back from injury. Gianna Guglielminetti continued to swing a hot bat, going 2-3 with a double, triple, and 2 RBIs. The Cardinals would pour it on in a 6 run 4th inning, capped off by a Jules LeProhon RBI 2B. Emily Fagan would pitch a complete game shutout, going all 5 innings with 9 K's in 17 batters faced. Fagan would take a perfect game bid to the final out of the game, where Anne Arundel's Aubrey Cook would hit a single up the middle to end get the Riverhawks only hit of the ball game. Fagan would leave the Riverhawks stranded to finish the contest and get the Cardinals a 9-0 5 inning win.

In game 2 Jules LeProhon would take the ball for the Cardinals and follow the lead of Fagan with her own complete game, going 7 innings with 11 k's and just one run which was unearned. CCBC would build an early lead with a 5 run 2nd inning capped by a 2 run single by Aliceanna Weibley. The Cardinals final run of the game would come in the 4th inning with an Angela Delaney 2B, scoring Abby Sies. LeProhon would hold the Riverhawks scoreless for the first 5 innings before they would plate their one run of the contest. Jayda Betts would have 2 of the 5 hits for AACC. CCBC would hold on for the 6-1 game victory, capping off a doubleheader sweep allowing only 1 run over 12 innings.

CCBC Softball will look to continue their momentum in Region 20 play as they have a doubleheader at WVU Potomac State, Wednesday March 18th in a rematch of the Region 20 Championship.
