Cardinals & Falcons Play a High Scoring Doubleheader

Catonsville MD, March 10th, 2026- CCBC Cardinals Softball and Lackawanna College played a high scoring two game set in the Cardinals home opener, where Lackawanna would take both contests.

The Cardinals and Falcons would combine for 43 runs and 46 hits in a hot and sunny early March contest. Game 1 would see Lackawanna win 14-6 on the back of a 6 run fifth inning.  The two teams would go back and forth offensively to start early, with a 6-6 game at the end of three innings. Emily Fagan would open it up for the Cardinals early, helping herself on the mound with a first inning three run inside the park home run. After a Gianna Guglielminetti two run double in the second, the Cardinals would go scoreless, as Lackawanna starter Ayahna Fleisher would settle in and throw 5 scoreless innings to earn herself a win. The Falcons would blow the game open in fifth inning with 6 runs and 5 hits. Gracie Sokol would hit a three-run double to extend the lead to six, and the Falcons would add on each in the 6th and 7th innings, to take game 1 14-6.

Game 2 would see the same great offensive action from both the Falcons and Cardinals, as Lackawanna would take game two 12-11. The Cardinals would again get out to an early lead, getting it up to 9-2 at the end of the fourth inning, Ellora Edquist would cap off the 6 run inning with a three run double. Maggie Rowland would go 3-3 and reach base 5 times, while Gianna Guglielminetti would add 3 more hits as well as 3 RBIs. Lackawanna would answer back immediately in the top half of the fifth inning, with seven runs to tie it at 9. The Falcons would go on to take the one run in the seventh inning, where they would stop the Cardinal rally in their tracks and pick up the win. Ayahna Fleisher would lead the way for the Falcons, going 3-5 with 3 RBI, as well as picking up the save.

The Falcons were able to make the timely plays to take the double header from CCBC, as both teams had a great offensive day. Cardinals' softball will look to pick it back up this weekend as they start conference play against Anne Arundel Community College, Saturday March 14th.
