Ohene, Wyant, Iroegbu Key Performers for T&F Team in 2026

The end of this outdoor T&F season ended on a promising note at Widener University on Monday, May 11th. Head Coach Mark Pryor gave several members of the team one final opportunity to achieve a new Personal Best.  The Widener Qualifier historically produces high level competition and an excellent opportunity to achieve national championship qualifying times for NCAA Division-I, II and III level schools.  A perfect example is Rowan University, a NCAA Division-III school whose men's 4x400m relay ran an impressive 3:08.97 which ranks them #1 in Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships scheduled for May 21-23rd.

Freshman Ohene Obiri Yeboah has had a long season, but the strength he built up in the Fall cross-country season has carried him well. At Widener, Ohene scored yet another PB in the 800-meter run clocking 1:57.59.  It was short of the NJCAA Nationals qualifying standard of 1:53.28 but still an improvement from his previous lifetime best of 2:00. Ohene also ran the 1500m run but with only 50 mins rest between the two events, it was not sufficient recovery to put forth a 100% effort.

Freshman Elijah Walker also traveled to Widener and competed in the 5,000m run (3.1 miles) or 12.5 laps. Elijah has been the team's distance runner competing mainly in the 5,000m and also the 10,000m (6.2 miles) run. His season and career best was 18:08.27.  At Widener, Elijah did a much better job of distributing his efforts over the 12.5 laps clocking a new personal best of 17:49.46.

Freshmen Dominic Wyant suffered a hamstring injury in his preparations for the last two outdoor meets and was unable to travel to Liberty University or the Widener Qualifier. Fellow freshman Kelechi Iroegbu also suffered a minor injury to his throwing arm and back, ending his season prematurely. They both enjoyed career seasons and appeared on the NJCAA National Championship qualifier rankings list.

As this season ended, it's overall review saw 2026 as the program's best individual performances since it's re-emergence as a sport in 2015 at the Catonsville campus:

Coach Pryor is excited for his team's outlook in 2027 with the return of his key performers Ohene, Wyant and Iroegbu along with the nine (9) promising and talented in-coming freshman signed to Letters of Intent.  The mix of seasoned returners with new talent can create a team of extraordinary potential producing elite results.
