Cardinals Fall to Garrett College on the Road

McHenry, Md. – October 7, 2025 – The CCBC Catonsville men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Garrett College on Tuesday afternoon in Maryland JUCO play. Despite a strong effort from the Cardinals, the Lakers took control early and maintained their advantage throughout the match.

Garrett opened the scoring in the 8th minute when Darius Hamilton finished off a pass from Jeronimo Valencia. Hamilton continued his impressive performance by adding an unassisted goal in the 27th minute before setting up Lucio Bianchi for another strike in the 34th minute to give the Lakers a 3-0 halftime lead. Valencia capped the scoring in the 49th minute, assisted once again by Hamilton, sealing the 4-0 victory for Garrett.

Goalkeeper Atenden Fumazah anchored the Cardinals' defense with nine saves on 14 shots faced, making several key stops to keep the match within reach. Midfielders Michael Akintunde and Zlinamer Mhan worked to generate offensive momentum for Catonsville, while defenders Shirish Sijapati and Fuad Folorunsho provided stability in the back line against Garrett's persistent attack.

Despite being held scoreless, the Cardinals continued to fight throughout the contest, creating late chances through improved passing and pressure in the attacking third. Garrett's goalkeeper Wyatt Hull recorded three saves to earn the shutout, while the Lakers' defense held firm against Catonsville's push in the final minutes. The Cardinals will look to regroup as they return home for their next matchup, focusing on translating their defensive effort into offensive execution.
