Cardinals Fly Home with a Victory
The CCBC Men's Basketball team got back in the win column Tuesday night with a win over TPLS Christian Academy 71-57 in their first home contest since November. The Cardinals snapped an early season losing streak going back to that last home contest to improve to 3-8.
The Cardinals were led in this one by leading scorer Kamren Hayes who poured in 34 points to go along with 6 rebounds. CCBC started out hot with an 11-0 run to begin the contest and would continue to build their lead up to 20 which was their largest. Hayes and Jaden French would outscore TPLS by themselves in the first half, combining for 30 in the first half, and 51 for the entire contest. The Cardinals would also win the turnover and rebound battle in this one showing defensive effort and hustle since the opening whistle. Both teams would struggle from behind the arc in this one, both going under 25%. David McKay-Samuels led the contest with 4 blocks, while William DeShields led with 6 steals. TPLS would cut the lead to 11 in the second half but would only get that far as the Cardinals stayed composed and in control of the contest. TPLS were led by Charles Pargo with 16 points and Achebe Thompson with 13.
In just their 2nd home contest, the Cardinals get their 2nd home win and they will look to defend home court in their next three contests, starting on Saturday Dec 13th at 2pm when they take on Westmoreland County Community College (2-7) in NJCAA Region 20 play.
