Cardinals Fall Short on the Road Against Richard Bland

Petersburg, Va. – The CCBC Catonsville men's basketball team came up just short in a hard-fought 70-62 road loss to Richard Bland College on Wednesday night. Despite a strong first-half performance and multiple scoring runs, the Cardinals were unable to overcome the Statesmen's size and rebounding advantage down the stretch.

The Cardinals opened the game with balanced offense and solid ball movement, taking a 25-27 deficit into halftime. Kameran Hayes had 14 points and 3 steals, while William DeShields added 9 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Yassir Supreme provided consistent inside scoring with 7 points and 9 rebounds, and Messiah Anderson led with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals to help keep the Cardinals within striking distance.

Richard Bland relied heavily on its inside presence, out-rebounding Catonsville 46-27 and converting 26-of-38 free throws. Jermaine Coston Jr. was dominant in the paint, recording 15 points and 20 rebounds, while Andy Ramirez had 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. The Statesmen capitalized on second-chance opportunities and free-throw attempts to pull away late in the second half.

With the loss, the Cardinals will look to bounce back in their next outing as they continue to develop chemistry and consistency on both ends of the court heading into conference play.
