Columbia, Md. – November 1-2, 2025 – The CCBC Catonsville men's basketball team split their weekend contests at the Kalhert Foundation Complex, falling 84-66 to Monroe Community College on Saturday before bouncing back with an impressive 93-51 win over Tidewater Community College on Sunday.
The Cardinals showcased resilience and offensive depth throughout the two-day stretch, improving to 1-1 on the season.
In Saturday's matchup against Monroe, the Cardinals battled through a competitive first half behind Kameran Hayes, who led all scorers with 21 points and 4 rebounds. Yassir Supreme added 9 points and 11 rebounds, while William Dscheidls contributed 7 points and 4 rebounds. Catonsville shot 50% from the field in the first half but couldn't contain Monroe's balanced scoring attack, led by Nate Brasill's 19 points and Alan Garcia's 17. Despite a strong start, the Cardinals fell 84-66 in their home opener.
Catonsville bounced back less than 24 hours later, dominating Tidewater Community College 93-51 in a statement performance. The Cardinals shot an impressive 54% from the field and 95.7% from the free-throw line, with five players scoring in double figures. Kameran Hayes led the charge again with 25 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists, while William Dscheidls added 10 points and 8 assists. Jaden French chipped in 18 points, and Messiah Anderson controlled the paint with 12 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Catonsville's defensive intensity also shined, forcing turnovers and holding Tidewater to just 30.5% shooting from the floor.
The Cardinals' balanced offensive attack and energy on both ends of the floor demonstrated their growth and chemistry early in the season. With momentum from their first win, CCBC Catonsville (1-1) will look to build on their success as they continue non-conference play before beginning MD JUCO competition.
