Cardinals Fall to Prince George’s Despite Early Effort
Catonsville, MD -- CCBC Catonsville dropped a 9-4 decision to Prince George's Community College on April 20, as the Cardinals were unable to overcome an early surge from the visiting team. Prince George's jumped ahead with a strong offensive showing through the middle innings, building a lead that CCBC struggled to chip away at despite putting together competitive at-bats throughout the game.
Offensively, the Cardinals recorded seven hits, with Skyler Jersey leading the way with a multi-hit performance and a run scored. Wyatt Bickers also contributed with a hit and a run, while A.J. Perry, Hunter Anderson, and Kaiden Williams each drove in runs for CCBC. Williams added a strong showing at the plate with two RBI, helping provide some offensive momentum as the Cardinals attempted to respond.
On the mound, Jordan Brewer took the loss, working five innings while striking out six. A.J. Bender and Jahzion McCoy provided relief out of the bullpen, combining to finish the game. Despite their efforts, Prince George's capitalized on key opportunities, tallying nine runs on nine hits to maintain control.
Despite the setback, the Cardinals remain focused on growth and consistency as they move forward in conference play. With a lineup that continues to produce and multiple arms gaining valuable innings, CCBC is in a position to bounce back quickly. By tightening up defensively and capitalizing on scoring opportunities, the Cardinals will look to turn the page and carry that resilience into their next matchup.
