Keyser WV, April 12th, 2026- Cardinals baseball traveled to West Virginia to take on WVU Potomac, where they would play a close 4-2 contest in game one, but would run out of gas in game two against the 22-11 Catamounts, falling 10-0.
In game one the Cardinals would keep this game close in all aspects, getting good pitching and matching the Catamounts In hits while committing zero errors. Kaiden Williams would give the Cardinals a good start, going 4 innings with 4 strikeouts, scattering 4 hits with 3 runs allowed. Michael Payne in relief would go the final two innings and would continue the efficient game one pitching allowing just two hits and a run. The Cardinal bats would come on late with a rally in the sixth inning, where they would gather 3 hits and a run, but would strand the tying run on base. WVU Potomac would close out the seventh to secure the 4-2 game 1 win.
Game two would see the Catamount bats get hot as they'd gather 4 extra base hits, including the walk off 3 run homer in the 6th by Logan Rotruck for a 10-0 win. Evan Jenkins would go 5 innings for the Catamounts allowing the just one hit to Skylar Jersey which would be the only Cardinal hit in the contest.
The Cardinals will look to bounce back as they return home from a weekend of doubleheaders on Tuesday 4/14 for a doubleheader against Montgomery College at 2/4PM.
