Prince George's Community College
On March 30th, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals headed back home to host a rematch versus Prince George's Community College. Previously on Tuesday March 28th, The Cardinals made the away trip to beat the owls in 8 – 4.
The Owls entered this game looking to make a major statement versus a 16 – 12 Cardinals team, currently coming off a two game win streaks of eight plus runs dominant. Unfortunately for the Owls, the Cardinals took full control from start to end of this game, dropping 13 runs in the first three innings.
The shutout performance by the Cardinals field was led early on by Freshman pitcher, Cecil Barone (Hereford) posting a (13 – 11) pitches to strike ratio on eight batters and strikeout. The field throughout this game made sure to upkeep their play, with three in field double plays from Sophomore shortstop, Orlando Perez Jr (Winter Park), sophomore centerfielder, Angelo Rameriez (North Atlanta) and Sophomore second baseman, Christian Figueroa (St. Mary's).
The Cardinals first run of the day would come from Ramirez, with the assistance of freshman infielder, Jalen Williams (Western Tech) hitting one of his two RBI's of the day and sliding to second base off an Owls error. Williams would later on score himself, off an Owls error, before exiting the first inning. The second inning was huge for the Cardinals, as they would leave out with seven runs. Figueroa would score the third run off a wild pitch, as well as Rameriez doing the same on another wild pitch. Sophomore designated hitter, Pete Howell (Lake Howell) would run in for the next score. Freshman catcher, Quinn Waters (Southern), sophomore outfielder, Miles Bowens (Tucker) and sophomore third baseman, Noah Deluca (Arundel) would run in to seal the Cardinals inning of scoring.
Three more runs from Williams, Bowens and sophomore first baseman, Tony D'Angeli (Atholton) would put the team up 13 – 0. The Cardinals would play shutout for the remainder of the game and then force mercy rule to advance to 17 -12 on the season.
