Bailey walks it off for the Cardinals

In their second game of the day, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals walked it off in a perfect fashion as they defeated Lakeland 4-2.

With the major 11 – 1 defeat looming on Lakeland's head, the team was committed to turning their woes around and playing upset to the red–hot Cardinals baseball team. This game started out fairly slow and the Cardinals would find themselves struggling to repeat their high-scoring batting and would trail in a 2 -1 score at the bottom of the 4th inning. A big-time RBI and triple from Freshman outfielder Jalen Williams (Western Tech) allowed this teammate to sneak in an easy run to spark a piece of momentum and motivation to the Cardinals dugout.

Freshman pitcher Jackson Bauer (Mt. St. Joseph) gave it his all as he would throw 6 strikeouts and 58 strikes to prevent Lakeland from scoring any more runs after the fourth inning. Entering the top of the seventh, Bauer and his field would send the first three batters back to the dugout with a much-needed three and out and sent the Cardinals batters onto the field to give it their last efforts.

Sophomore second basemen Orlando Perez Jr (Winter Park) and sophomore outfielder Angelo Rameriez (North Atlanta) found themselves at first and second base respectively. With two outs and a pair of strikes, the pressure of winning was put all on Sophomore 1st baseman Caleb Bailey (Old Mill High). With one last hit at the end of the game, Bailey swung and hit a home run to send all three men to home field, as they were paraded by a hyped Cardinals team who led in runs with no time left in game two. "It feels great," said Bailey. "I just wanted to help the team out. We were struggling throughout the game and it's finally fun to get through a big hit to score some runs and win the game for us." Bailey now looks to win the next two conference games and have the team bring "a lot of intensity" and momentum, after their two-game winning dominance.
