Cardinals Drop Second Straight Game

Cardinals Drop Second Straight Game

In game two of their season-opening doubleheader, the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals baseball team lost a tough match against the Raiders of Seminole State College.

A back-and-forth struggle ended with the Raiders walking off against the Cardinals for the second straight game, winning 8-7.

The Cardinals opened the scoring by going up 4-0, then watched as the Raiders scored seven unanswered runs to take a 7-4 lead. It looked to be a carbon copy of the first game until Catonsville finally answered in the top of the seventh. With three straight runs, Catonsville tied the game and sent it to extra innings.

In the eighth, Catonsville was unable to keep the momentum going, as they were held scoreless by the Raiders. A walk-off led to an 8-7 victory for Seminole State, while the Cardinals fell to 0-2 on the year.

Sophomore catcher Tony D'Angeli (Atholton) hit the first home run of the season for the Cardinals, along with two RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Miles Bowens (Tucker) had three RBIs and a stolen base, while freshman first baseman Nick Stergiou (Broadneck) hit two RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Angelo Ramirez (North Atlanta) picked up where he left off last year with his first stolen base of the season.
