Cardinals Applying the Pressure on the Seahawks

On Thursday April 28, 2022, CCBC Catonsville Cardinals hosted Cecil College for one game matchup. The Cardinals game into this game sitting at a 20-21 record, while Cecil was at 15-30. In conference play the Cardinals were at 11-7, the Seahawks were at 6-13.

 

In the top of the first inning the Cardinals let up one run, which happened to be the only run that the Seahawks would ever score. In the bottom of the inning the Cardinals came out strong putting up a few runs from an Alex Elliot (Clarksville, MD), single into left field and then advanced to second base on the throw home to try and get Roman March (Baltimore, MD), out at the plate, but the Seahawks were unsuccessful, allowing the Cardinals to score their first run of the game. Two batters later Lexius Calderon (Kissimmee, FL), singled to left field again driving in Elliot, and advancing Tony D'Angeli (Columbia, MD), to second base. Next batter up Tomas Martinez (West New York, NJ), singled to right field advancing Calderon to third and scoring D'Angeli, and just like that the Cardinals were up 3-1 in the bottom of the first.

 

In the second inning, the Cardinals striked again when Angelo Ramirez (Atlanta, GA), singled to field right field, driving in March and Christian Figueroa (North Arlington, NJ), and Ramirez advanced to second on the throw home. After the second inning, the score was 5-1 Cardinals.

 

In the bottom of the third inning, Figueroa advanced to second on a wild pitch after singling to left field, Noah Deluca (Odenton, MD), advanced to third, and Martinez scored on the wild pitch. Two batters later March singled to right field scoring scoring Figueroa and Deluca, while advancing Orlando Perez Jr (Ocoee, FL), to third base. Immediately after Ramirez singled to right field scoring March and Perez Jr. A few batters later Elliot grounded out to shortstop, but Ramirez was able to score on the play. This would make the game 11-1 Cardinals at the end of the third inning.

 

In the sixth inning, the Cardinals brought out the bats again and started striking. March reached on a fielder's choice, Perez Jr, advanced to third and Figueroa scored on the play. Two batters later Ramirez advanced to second on a wild pitch, March advanced to third, and Perez Jr, scored. Next batter up Elliot, singled to pitcher, advanced Ramirez to third, and March scored. On the next play Elliot advanced to second on a wild pitch, and Ramirez scored. The final score of this game 15-1, Cardinals get the win.
