The Cardinals Could Not Overcome the Catamounts

Game 1: Catamounts 12 (31-6), Cardinals 1 (18-13). WP – Brandon Schaeffer (7-0), LP – Conner Peters (0-1)

  • The Cardinals took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Dwayne Thomas homered on an RBI.
  • The Catamounts answered in the top of the third with two RBIs and two sacrifice flyouts. This brought the score to 2-1, putting the Catamounts in the lead.
  • The Catamounts scored again at the top of the fourth by a double play.
  • In the top of the fifth and sixth, the Catamounts scored a total of nine on RBI hits. This brought the game to it's final score of 12-1

Game 2: Catamounts 14 (32-6), Cardinals 4 (18-14). WP – Jared Adams (2-1), LP – Jimmy Jaecksch (0-1)

  • The Catamounts took the lead in the top of the first by scoring on four RBI hits. They also stole home and did a sacrifice flyout.
  • The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the first. Aronne Dutton scored on an RBI hit.
  • The Catamounts responded in the top of the second by scoring on six RBI hits. They also did another sacrifice flyout.
  • The Catamounts scored again in the top of the third and in the top of the fourth with another 2 RBI hits. They did yet another sacrifice flyout.
  • The Cardinals responded in the bottom of the fourth. Caleb Bailey scored on an RBI hit.
  • In the top of the fifth, the Catamounts responded by scoring on an RBI hit.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Cardinals responded by scoring twice. Chris Pizarro and Aronne Dutton both scored on RBI hits which brought the final score of the game to 14-4.
