CATONSVILLE, MD – The Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville Athletics today announced that it has named Marcus Wood Head Women’s Basketball coach.
This will be Wood’s first head coaching position at the college level. He has served as an assistant coach at Chesapeake College the past three seasons. He also brings more than seven years of high school basketball coaching experience along with over nine years coaching for Team Adidas/Maryland Lady shooting Stars. Wood had served as a recruiting coach for CCBC Catonsville Cardinals this spring, bringing in more than eight players signed to Letters of Intent for the upcoming 2018 fall season.
A Baltimore native, Coach Wood graduated from Edmondson-Westside High School in 2004, where he played basketball for three years before entering CCBC Catonsville to continue his education and playing experience, under CCBC Hall of Fame coach, Randy Gregory. Wood then transferred to Southeastern College in Birmingham, AL, in 2008 where he was their starting point guard.
“Marcus brings a positive energy to our program, which we have already seen in a short amount of time. He is passionate about the sport, helping young ladies reach their potential and goals, and will be a big asset to our program’s future success. I am very excited about bringing our alumni, Coach Wood on our staff as the new head coach,” said Melissa Miller, Assistant Director of Athletics.
