On Tuesday, May 22, Melissa Miller, Assistant Director of College Athletics for CCBC Catonsville, was elected to a two-year term to serve as the Maryland JUCO Athletics Conference president at the league’s spring meeting in Ocean City, Maryland.
Miller is the first female president-elect to govern the 16-term conference in its nearly 50-year history. She was previously named the Maryland JUCO Conference Athletic Director of the Year for the 2016-2017 academic year.
At the NJCAA Region XX meeting the previous day, Greg Witkop, Assistant Director of College Athletics for CCBC Essex, was elected to a two-year term as Assistant NJCAA Region XX Men’s Director, a region consisting of 25 teams in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Witkop just completed a five-year term as Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference president (2013-2018). He is also a past winner of the Maryland JUCO Conference Athletic Director of the Year (2014-2015).
When Miller completes her two-year term in June, 2020, CCBC athletic professionals will have been elected to serve as Maryland JUCO president for 20 of the past 24 years. Marc Ershler, Assistant Director of College Athletics for CCBC Dundalk, and Brian Farrell, Director of College Athletics, held this office from 2008-2012 and 1996-2004, respectively.
Congratulations Melissa and Greg!
